Bridal Showers
Bridal showers are to be great fun, and most of the time they are. However, this only works well when the planning for it has been taken care of. It is hard to host a great bridal shower when you leave it until they last minute. Ideally, it should take place a couple of weeks before the actual wedding occurs. Make sure you plan the date well in advance so that as many people who are invited as possible can make it.
There are many decisions that have to be taken care of though before those invitations can go out. Traditionally the maid of honor is in charge of the event. It can be extremely difficult and stressful though to take care of it all on your own. Therefore the entire bridal party should be assisting. If other people want to pitch in then let them do so. Don’t be afraid to share the expense or to delegate the responsibility.
Talk to the bride too so you know what she wants. You can plan a wonderful bridal shower in vain if she isn’t happy with it. She may not want a huge affair or one that is expensive for you to provide. She may want an intimate gathering with a few people and some cake to enjoy as people talk. Her wishes need to be respected and included in the planning.
Once you have the date, time, and location ready you can work on the invitations. Make sure the bride takes a close look at the list of people invited. You don’t want to accidentally forget someone. If you are having the event outdoors then you need to have a back up plan just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.
If the bride has registered for gifts, include that information with the invitations. The guests will appreciate it as it makes shopping for a gift much easier. They can be 100% confident that the bride is really going to like it when they select something off her list. If there is a specific theme for the gifts such as lingerie then you need to include that information as well.
Ask those who you send the invitations to for the bridal shower to RSVP. This way you can get the right amount of food and supplies for the bridal shower. You don’t want to run short on things or have too much left over. There needs to be enough tables and chairs for all who were invited. Have some extras too in case someone brings a friend with them.
You will also need to think about entertainment for the bridal shower. There are plenty of fun games out there that are a hit at bridal showers. They are a great way to get all of the guests into what is taking place. There are often plenty of laughs during the various games.
