Bridal Gifts
Bridal gifts should be personal and something that the bride is going to use for herself or together with the groom. It should be things that they can benefit from personally rather than to decorate their home or to cook with. Some bridal gifts are more practical than others though so it is up to you what you want to offer.
It seems like themed bridal showers are becoming more common than before. That means guests are asked to bring gifts that fit into that particular theme. You don’t have to conform to that request though if you don’t want to. You may already have the perfect bridal gift in mind that isn’t along those same lines.
Some people are hesitant to give the bride intimate items at her shower such as lingerie. There is no etiquette about this though so if you are interested in doing so go ahead. Should you feel the item would be embarrassing to the bride to open in front of everyone though you can give it to her before or after the bridal shower takes place.
Think about what the bride likes to do in her free time. Chances are she may not have had much of it lately. However, once the wedding is over she will likely want to get back into it. If she is into scrapbooking you can get her a new book and plenty of supplies. That way she will have everything she needs to work on pages involving wedding photos.
One of the neatest things for many new brides is seeing her new name on things. You can get her a personalized gift with her new last name on it. This can be travel items or things she can display in her home. It is very exciting to see that name on such items. Just be sure that she is taking on the grooms name before you do this or that she isn’t hyphenating her own name with his.
You can also make items that will be treasured for years to come. A quilt that you made may be perfect. Place the names of the couple as well as their wedding date in the middle of it. She will be very moved by the hours you spent to make it for her. This will also be a reminder of her wedding and she can pass it along to her children one day.
Does the bride love to decorate? If so get her some great items you can display in the new home. It could be framed pictures or even candles. There are plenty of great sculptures and collectibles out there that will be perfect. Think about what both the bride and groom are interested in so you can get something they will both like seeing on display in the home they make together.
Don’t stress over finding the perfect bridal gifts out there. Just think about that person and what they really like. Then you can add your own creative touches to it. Start shopping early though so you won’t feel rushed to get something even though you know it isn’t the right gift for her.
