Bridal Shower Games

February 9, 2009

One of the elements of a good bridal shower is to play games that people of all ages will enjoy. There are plenty of them to choose from and you want to select a few that have simple rules. That way guests won’t be confused by what is going on. Make sure you have the supplies you need ready too including pens, paper, and even small clipboards for them to do their writing on.

Some bridal shower games require concentration while others are very interactive. You may want to choose some with different concepts to them so that there will be games that everyone likes. The number of games you will want to offer depends on the time you can allot to each of them. Make sure you include enough time to get set up for each of the games as this can take several minutes as well.

You want to eliminate buying too many items in order to play the games so use what you have. Divide the guests into teams and play trivia. The size of the teams should depend on how many guests you have. Before the party come up with questions about the bride and groom and write them on index cards. Chances are many guests will learn things they didn’t know about the couple before the game is done too.

It is often said that women have everything under the sun in their purses. One way to find out is to play a game with it at the bridal shower. Make a list of common, and not so common items that a person may have in their purse. Call out each item and the first person to have it will get a point. You can also do this in teams instead of individually if you want to. It is hilarious to see some of the items women really do carry around in their purses with this game.

Crossword puzzle games are fun too. You can create them on the computer with the clues being about the bride and groom. Photo copy them before the shower and pass them out. You can do the same with a word search. Another game is to put the first names of the bride and groom on top of a sheet of paper. Give the guests a few minutes to make as many words as they can out of those names. If there aren’t too many options add the last name they will share as well so more letters are available to make the words from.

Bridal shower games help everyone who is invited to interact with each other. That makes it more fun, especially for those who do know the bride to be but very few of the other guests around. There will be plenty of laughter with such games and that brings the party to life.

Have some great prizes for the winner of each game as well. This way the guests will be motivated towards winning one of them. Since you will likely have favors for each guest as they leave the party you don’t have to worry that anyone will leave empty handed.

Coming up with ideas for wedding shower favors doesn’t have to be hard if you are open to new ideas. Some people believe these have to be wedding themed items but that isn’t necessarily true. How many times have you left a wedding shower with a lovely gift but one you have no use for? Chances are it will end up in a drawer at home where it will be forgotten about.

Why not give the wedding shower guests some items they can get some use out of? There are many gadgets these days that are affordable as well as useful. Tiny flashlights for their keychain and even calculators that fit on them are great ideas. Notepads with pens that you can place into a purse are great too.

Most of us have plenty going on so we have to balance our time and schedules. Day planners and pocket calendars are items that will get plenty of us. Most of us have an address book but it has been around for a long time. Having a new one means we can update our contact information and not have all of those old addresses and phone numbers for people that have accumulated over the years.

Most people drink coffee or tea so mugs for them are a nice gift for a wedding shower favor. You can go with home mugs or the travel types that have lids for easy carrying when you are on the go. You can toss in some flavored coffees or teas as well for them to use later on.

Nothing brings a smile to the faces of children and adults like bubbles. They are fun items you can provide as part of the wedding shower favors. Chances are most guests won’t be able to resist blowing some of them on the way to their vehicle. You can get different sized bottles and even small tubes of bubbles. To make them more wedding related you can glue ribbons on the tops that are in the wedding colors.

Bath items really seem to be a huge hit for wedding shower favors. Offer a bag of mixed bath wash, bath salts, and soaps in various colors and designs. You can also offer nail kits with files and clippers. Some stickers or mini bottles of nail polish are a nice touch as well.

Candies, cookies, brownies, and other types of sweets are delicious too. You can even add some hard candies for those who prefer them. There aren’t too many guests who won’t be appreciative of such great treats. You can buy them pre-made or make these items yourself to give it a more personal touch.

Wedding shower favors can be fun, practical, or elegant depending on the impression want to give. They can range from only a few dollars per person to being quite expensive. With so many options out there though you can easily find the perfect wedding shower gifts that you want to offer to the guests.

It doesn’t have to be difficult to come up with great ideas for bridal favors. It is traditional to give them out to the guests who have attended the bridal shower. You will want to give those items that are elegant and classy. Yet too many hosts panic because they associate this with being expensive.

There are many great bridal favors out there you can choose from that are affordable though. Candles come in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors. You can choose those that are in the colors of the wedding. They will be great items to use or to display for any guest at the bridal shower. You can even place a few of them out with the decorations for the bridal shower.

Items for the guests to use on themselves are always welcome as well. Hand locations, facial creams, and body washes are all items they will love to use. There are plenty of great smelling ones to offer. You can mix and match them to give each guest a great collection of them. Go for the trial sized ones so you can offer more items to each person. Then if they love a particular fragrance they can buy a larger size later one.

Candy is a great hit as well for any bridal shower favors. You can buy heart shaped items or even get candy that has the names of the couple and their wedding date on them. There are many places online where you can get these customized goodies but make sure you place the order early enough.

You can purchase candy molds with a wedding theme to make your own candies in as well. There are colored candy melts you can buy in the colors of the wedding to use. You simply melt them in a pot and then pour them into the molds. After they have completely set you can place a handful of them into a clear bag. Seal it up with a foil wrap or a piece or ribbon in wedding colors.

Think of items that each of the people can use in their daily activities as well. There are some gorgeous bookmarks which may remind some that they haven’t picked up a good book lately. Picture frames are something people can always use. Get something fun such as a shoe or a round one that is out of the normal look of most picture frames. Even a nice letter opener is something that your guests will love.

If the wedding is taking place in the summer or outdoors, you can go with that as a theme for the bridal flowers. For example summer flowers, small vases, seashells, and even Hawaiian lieu’s are great. There are many themed items you can discover online so if you are interested in that angle see what is offered.

Offering bridal favors to your guests is something you should put some thought into. They can be fun items that they will enjoy or those they will put out on display. You can also choose to give them edible items if you wish. There are many options so be as creative as you would like with this part of the bridal shower.

Baby Shower Favors

February 3, 2009

A baby shower is a traditional way to celebrate the impending birth of a baby. Sometimes it doesn’t take place until after the birth occurs. This way guests know the sex and they get to see the baby. While there are many variables that can take place for a baby shower there are some things expected.

One of them is to offer baby shower favors at the end of the party. This is to be given as a token of your appreciation to the guests who took the time to come. In the past baby showers were just for women to attend. Therefore the favors were geared just towards them. Today many baby showers are family affairs and both the mom and the dad of the baby are included.

That means you may need to modify your ideas for baby shower gifts. You want them to fit well for those in attendance. If it is a family baby shower then design favors you can hand out to each family instead of each individual. Bags full of treats such as chocolate, suckers, and even microwave popcorn work great. You can place them in bags with either pink or blue bows on the top.

If the baby shower is only women then you can offer favors that include packets of pre-mixed facials, manicure and pedicure sets, memo pads with pens, and body soaps and washes. Too many women fail to pamper themselves with such items on a regular basis. When they get your baby shower favors they will use them and remember how good doing such procedures makes them feel.

If the baby is already born then you can do personalized baby shower favors. Mini chocolate bars with custom labels are a great idea. You can include the name of the baby and all the birth information. If there are older siblings you can also have the wording with them introducing the new arrival.

Small photo albums, key chains, and mini flashlights make great baby shower favors as well. They can be used by both sexes too which is good if you will have a mix of people at the baby shower. These are also practical items that people will find a use for. They are also inexpensive so you can put them together for a low price per person.

You really can’t go wrong with candy or chocolate either. Miniature booties in pink and blue filled with these items are a great hit! If you know the sex of the baby then stick with that color. If it is still up in the air then give each guest one of each color. They go perfect with a heart shaped picture frame.

Have fun choosing the baby shower favors you are going to offer. There are many that can fit any given theme. They can also be affordable so don’t worry that offering them is going to break your budget for the entire party. Make sure you look online for discounted items as well.
